Class of 1963 Ties and Cumberbunds
September 27, 2013--Jim DeFrancia reports that we now have NO cummerbunds or four-in-hand ties. The Class
of 1963 Tie originates with classmate Will Settle, who was inspired by
the Vietnam tie offered by the Ben Silver Corporation. This idea resulted
in formation of a committee consisting of Will Settle, Jim DeFrancia, Frank
Hilton and Roger Mehle.
We do have bow ties and ladies scarves. $63 each or 2 of anything for $100.
Orders can be placed with Ms. Jessi Crawford, % Lowe Enterprises, PO Box 12393, Aspen, CO 81812.
The
design of the tie was finalized with wide Navy Blue and Gold stripes accented
with three very narrow stripes of black (for the Army), red (for the Marines)
and light blue (for the Air Force). This was commemorative of the members
of the Class that went on to those Services.
The
design also provided that the Blue & Gold stripes were 6 times the
width of the three colors for the other services, thus creatiing a subtle
"63" pattern. In addition, the layout was in the traditional right hand
lie of British regimental ties. All ties and the cumerbund are of
imported English silk and are custom made by Ben Silver Corporation just
for our Class. (Ordering Information below)
