I've been asked to provide a sample of what the slideshow will look like. Suddenly in the past few days we've obtained 275 photos so it will be a great show. When you click on the following link it should open up the non slideshow version of the slideshow which just presents a few of the 275 photos. For best viewing save the page from your browser's "File/Save Page As" command and view Full Screen using Adobe Reader. SampleSlideshow.pdf. The show Using Adobe Reader instead of your browser will automatically cycle through the slides every five seconds. To exit Full Screen mode tap your "esc" key at the upper left of your keyboard.
More bids are pouring in. Get yours in also!See the updated The Illustrated Catalog describing the items to be bid on and bidding instructions below. See the latest bids and get your bids in. Silent Auction Bids. Also review the Silent Auction Rules
So far I have 138 photos and would you believe my wife and/or me are in 28 of them! That's 20%, one in five, too many, etc. Unless you want to spend your evening looking at the lovely young Yvonne and not so lovely Steve, send in your own photos! Locate those great snapshots taken at the Academy, on Cruise, Weddings, or wherever, have them digitized at 300 dpi(important!) and email them to Steve Coester at scoester@cfl.rr.com, (copy to Jim Fontana at portside@aol.com.
There's some confusion about how to bid. Just send an email to mkrause63@optonline.net describing the items to be bid on and your dollar amount bids.
Here's a reminder to go through your old photos from our Annapolis years. No photos equals no slideshow at the Saturday Night Soiree aboard the Maritime Museum. We just have a few weeks to get this done! Locate those great snapshots taken at the Academy, on Cruise, Weddings, or wherever, have them digitized at 300 dpi(important!) and email them to Steve Coester at scoester@cfl.rr.com, (copy to Jim Fontana at portside@aol.com.

We need copies of your old snapshots taken during our 'four years by the bay'. The MTR Committee plans to have a continually running slideshow of Class of '63 photos on display during the MTR's Saturday Night Soiree aboard the Maritime Museum. The challenge is getting our hands on your prized pics. So here's what we recommend: Locate those great snapshots taken at the Academy, on Cruise, Weddings, or wherever, have them digitized at 300 dpi(important!) and email them to Steve Coester at scoester@cfl.rr.com, (copy to Jim Fontana at portside@aol.com.
If you don't have the means to scan the photos into your PC at home, then most any place like Walmart or Costco will enable you to digitize them very cheaply. Once those 'glossies' are translated into ones & zeros, email them to Steve. He will integrate them into a slideshow. This is a great opportunity to remind everyone how buff you looked as a Mid. So dig deep through those old albums and select your favorites. 'Cause we want to see them...and without your inputs we'll have nothing to display.
Classmate Fred Kaiser owns Think Ink Graphic Design and Screen Printing. See USNA-63 Gear for his offerings to the Class. Use the Microsoft EXCEL order form found at EXCEL Order Form. After it downloads, you can fill it out on your computer and email or print it and send or fax. Or you can call the number on the form. If you don't have EXCEL call the phone number in the Catalog.

The current Hyatt situation is that the $131/night "Standard Double/King" rooms are sold out for the nights of the MTR. However, 400 "Bay View" rooms (200 double/200 king) have been made available at $156/night. And, of course, there are even other rooms at higher rates. Bottom line - still plenty of room at the Hyatt!
We are seeking classmates' support as silent auction item donors for the Mid Term Reunion. The silent auction will be held on Saturday April 2, 2011 in the Hospitality Suite at the Manchester Hyatt in San Diego. The item(s) donated will directly benefit the 1963 Center for Academic Excellence as a part of the Class Legacy gift.Donations may include "hard goods" such as art, wine, antiques, mementos or other appropriate items. "Intangible" items such as rounds of golf at a club or resort; use of a vacation condominium at a ski area, beach house or resort/spa; weekends at a hotel; dinners at a restaurant or a hosted dinner in your home, a cruise on your boat, etc. are acceptable. Be creative! Donations could represent hundreds of dollars in auction funds raised. A Donation Form is attached and is available at the class website with mailing instructions. Your donation and purchase if the successful bidder is tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.

It is time to register for the San Diego Midterm Reunion! The committee recommends the great hotel rate we have secured for this reunion; $131 base room rate for a harbor side luxury hotel is unheard of in their experience and worth attending the MTR for that opportunity alone. The picture of the hotel below is a winner!
The registration forms for the reunion and the golf, and the introductory letter, FAQs, and hotel information are provided in both Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat formats Please print out the forms and fax or mail them per the directions on the form.

CLASS of '63 MID-TERM REUNION in SAN DIEGO, CA Thursday 31 March to Sunday 3 April 2011
Official Registration Packages will be mailed in mid-October, 2010.
The previously announced Schedule of Events is firm. Specific details about each event will be included in the Registration Package. See MidtermReunionFlyer091710.doc. For a list of web sites of San Diego area places of interest see San Diego Tours.doc. The magnificent Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel will be our Headquarters. It is located in the heart of downtown San Diego, on the waterfront. Our "contract rate" was very attractive, but it has been lowered. Singles are now $131 per room, and doubles are $156 per room (plus taxes and fees)! These rates will be available for three days before and three days after the MTR (from March 28 - April 7, 2011). Hotel registration details will be included in the Registration package. Until then, check out http://manchestergrand.hyatt.com/hyatt/hotels/index.jsp.
  Dear Classmates,
We here in San Diego thank you for responding to our survey of interest in participating in a Mid Term Reunion in the spring of 2011.The results of the survey were quite encouraging, with an overall response rate of about 43% (226 classmates responses of about 522 Classmates with known email addresses). Of these, 63% (142 classmates) were "Yes" (most were very enthusiastic)! Another 23% (52 classmates) were "Maybe" (with most leaning "Yes").
So, the USNA '63 Mid Term Reunion is a GO! Put March 31-April 3, 2011 on your calendar in ink!
We are negotiating a contract with the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel on the San Diego waterfront (for very "Navy friendly" prices) to be our Headquarters Hotel. Our Events Committee is hard at work on a schedule of events which we hope will include a San Diego Harbor Cruise, a Graduation Ceremony and Parade honoring our Class at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot, plus lots of time for meeting and greeting Classmates as well as multiple opportunities for sightseeing, golfing, touring, and just relaxing and enjoying San Diego!
We will continue working out the schedule details, and make a formal announcement sometime time over the next couple of months.
You can help by passing the word to the other ~50% of Class and Company mates who may not have received it directly.
Your San Diego Mid Term Reunion Committee looks forward to seeing you in San Diego in 2011!
